Resistance to the ingress of fluids is vital for many products, in particular those incorporating electrical and/or electronic components. The International Electrotechnical Commission standard No.IEC60529 classifies degrees of ingress protection provided by enclosures of electrical equipment and defines an ingress protection rating or ‘IP rating’. Dunlop Systems and Components is able to test products in accordance with this standard and assess the desired IP rating of a product.
Our equipment enables testing ranging from simple humidity and water submersion, to rigorous water thermal shock analysis using a custom-built thermal shock chamber. The chamber operates at temperatures of between -60°C (or 0°C for water tests) and +180°C, so is able to simulate harsh thermal transient conditions.
